Under the streets of Galveston County exists the unseen world of an interconnected network industrial gas pipelines. These pipelines flow from all over the region into a through the county, carrying the lifeblood of a variety of industrial processes, including petroleum processing, chemical manufacturing, and oil recovery.

The pipeline locations and maps are maintained in Texas by the Texas Railroad Commission. The Commission is a state agency that regulates the oil and gas industry, gas utilities, pipeline safety, safety in the liquefied petroleum gas industry, and surface coal and uranium mining. (Surprisingly, the Commission hasn’t regulated the state’s railroads since 2005.)
