If Greater Houston were a country, they’d be the 28th largest by economy in the world.
As of 2017, the most recent data available, Greater Houston’s GDP was $490.1 billion, making it larger than 183 other countries, including Nigeria, Norway, United Arab Emirates, Iran, and Ireland.
In addition, Houston’s economy is larger than every country in Africa, and every country in Oceania, with the exception of Australia.
Closer to home, Houston’s economy bests every country in North America, except the United States, Canada and Mexico, and every country in South America except Brazil and Argentina.
Galveston County is proud to be a part of Greater Houston’s success.
