Galveston County continues to be great place to do business – with higher employment-growth and lower-wage growth than the national average.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported yesterday that employment increased in 295 of the 349 largest U.S. counties. Additionally, in September 2018, national employment increased to 146.8 million, a 1.6 percent increase over the year.

Galveston County bested the national increase, with employment growing 1.8% from September 2017 to 2018.

Average wages grew more slowly than the national average, increasing only 2.1% (vs 3.3%) in third quarter 2018 over the same period the previous year, allowing the county to be the most cost competitive region of Greater Houston.
