For the ninth year in a row, Galveston County has reduced property taxes.

The Galveston County Commissioners Court adopted a budget for Fiscal Year 2020 in a unanimous 5-0 vote at a special meeting held yesterday, September 10, 2019.

For the ninth year in a row, the Commissioners have cut the ad valorem tax rate below the effective rate. The budget passed today is nearly a 3% decrease under the last fiscal year and a 17.91% decrease since 2011.

Commissioner Darrell Apffel, Commissioner Jo​e Guisti, County Judge Mark Henry, Commissioner ​Stephen D. Holmes​ and Commissioner ​Ken Clark​ reduced Galveston County’s property tax rate again for 2020.
