Earlier this week, The Resort at Texas City started using Xenex LightStrike Germ-Zapping Robots to help curb the potential spread of coronavirus in the facility.
The LightStrike disinfection system uses pulsed xenon ultraviolet (UV) light to quickly destroy dangerous pathogens such as SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19), Clostridium difficile (C.diff), and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
The LightStrike robot is proven to deactivate SARS-Co-V-2 in two minutes and can disinfect an entire resident room in as little as 20 minutes without damaging materials or equipment. The robot will be used to disinfect resident rooms, restrooms, public areas, meeting rooms and eating areas.
“We will be the first nursing home in the area to utilize this amazing technology usually deployed only in acute care facilities,” said John Griffin of The Resort at Texas City.
